8 Dead From AstroWorld Festival

At a music festival in Houston on Friday night, members of a crammed crowd gathered on stage and were crushed by each other. At least eight people were killed and many others were injured in the turmoil, according to witnesses and officials. The victims were 14, 16 years old, two 21 years old, two  23 years old and one  27 years old, but the age of the victims is unknown, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner said on Saturday night. Announced at a press conference in Houston. The mayor added that no one was reported missing. At least 25 people were taken to the hospital, 13 of whom stayed in the hospital on Saturday afternoon, the mayor said. He added that five of them were under the age of 18.

Authorities provided a little more detailed picture of what happened on Saturday night, but warned that it could take weeks or more to determine exactly what happened.  Authorities have previously stated that multiple people needed CPR. At around 9:38 pm, 17 patients were hospitalized at the event, 11 of whom suffered cardiac arrest, according to Houston Fire Chief Sam Penha.

Police arrested 25 people on Friday night, said Troy Finaler, Houston Police Chief, and the  majority were  trespassing. One was arrested for possession of marijuana and the other for public drunkenness. Due to inappropriate behavior from fans, and masses of unregistered individuals, there was not enough space for all attendants (resulting in many passing out). Travis Scott has responded via Twitter and Instagram with an apology, however, he’s still facing criticism from the media.
