3 Dead in USPS Shooting

Two U.S Postal Service Employees are left dead after a shooting at a Memphis facility. The shooter, another USPS employee, died due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Many witnesses on the scene told reporters and police officers that they had heard loud bangs nearby, and seen several employees running, yelling that there had been shots fired inside the building. USPS is currently working with local law enforcement and the FBI to determine the shooter's motive, and whether or not anyone else was involved in planning the shooting.

This is the second workplace related shooting that has occurred in Memphis in recent weeks, as last month one person was killed while fourteen others were injured at a grocery store shooting. Many concerned citizens and activists have come forward to express their beliefs and discuss with the city council, in hopes of changing gun laws to create stricter regulations that make it difficult for any individual to carry or purchase a firearm.

Although the idea has been brought up several times in meetings between local congressmen, it’s been extremely difficult to overturn or reform gun laws within the area, as many have continued to argue it’s a violation of the amendment. In turn, gun-related crimes have seen a 20 percent increase, and arms sales have continued to rise.
