19 Dead and 32 Injured After Bus Crash In Mexico
19 people were killed and 32 were injured after a bus crashed on Friday, believed to have carried pilgrims to a religious site in central Mexico. State officials said the bus apparently lost its brakes and crashed into a building in Mexico.
Six of the victims were seriously injured and were taken to a hospital in the capital city of Toruca. Ricardo de la Cruz. The Deputy Interior Minister said the accident occurred in the Hoxingo community in Southwestern Mexico City. The bus went from western Michoacan to Carma, a city visited by Roman Catholic pilgrims for centuries.
Initially, there was no information about the condition of the injured passengers. As Lady of Guadalupe's Day, December 12, approaches, many Mexicans make religious pilgrimages. Accidents are not uncommon. They often walk narrow streets, ride bicycles, and travel on dilapidated buses.
Carma was a pre-Hispanic sanctuary before the conquest of 1521. After the arrival of the Spaniards, believers say that a miraculous cross appeared in a cave dedicated to the Aztec god, making Carma a Christian pilgrimage site (along with a massive site for incidents, such as the one discussed earlier.
